August 16, 2009 - ITE IZENOTE NORMOLE!

Today before describing today#039;s excursion, here is a little anecdote that the public
diligent of this newspaper calls for me loud and clear!
I could give it a title: #039;IT IZE NOTE NORMOLE#039;
you will understand why!

The scene takes place in a small restaurant in Leh #039;La Tibetan Kitchen#039;, run by a Tibetan woman of little
almost 60 years old, his 12-13 year old son and a cook.
In France we would call it a gargotte but here it#039;s a nice restaurant where everything is prepared to order.
order and everything is very fresh!
The rule of the game is that you obviously have to wait 20-30 minutes after placing the order
sometimes a little more if the 7 tables in the restaurant are full.

When we arrived at the restaurant, one of the tables was occupied by 4 French people, 2 couples
(on an organized trip I suppose...)

I don#039;t know how they managed, but none of the 4 guests were served at the same time.
time. and even, when their dish finally arrived, we had the impression that it didn#039;t
didn#039;t match what they ordered!
In short, we felt they were very, very angry!!!

The first time, one of the 2 women tried to complain in English which, in my opinion,
only the French can understand....
(I think that#039;s the root of the problem and not that of the poor Tibetan who didn#039;t understand
nothing the woman said to him! )
It was no use, the last guest at the table was even served after us who had arrived
After ....
the end of this little story is less funny and made me want to hide a new one
times under the table so as not to be assimilated to these French people....

when it was time to pay the bill, the same lady who had previously complained, decided on her own
to reduce the amount of the bill, considering that the service was not up to the price (it is necessary
know that the average price of a dish was 60 rupees or 0.90 euros!!! )
And here she goes again in a speech with the Tibetan to explain to her why she did not want
pay for everything by punctuating his sentences with this expression:
ldquo;IT IZE NOTE NORMOLErdquo; with a local accent!!! ( it is not normal )
as if she were speaking to a maicirc;tre d#039; of the Georges V

It is still astonishing to see Westerners behave like this, as they would do in
their country of origin, in countries which do not have a fifth of their standard of living!

We can end by asking ourselves a question: but what do they learn from their journey?
buying a good book with beautiful photos should pretty much amount to the same thing!

There you go Paul, was it good?
I#039;ll let you begin the words of our future real commune on this subject!!!

    Bisous.
