August 20, 2009 - I saw the Dalai Lama
Today August 20,
I thought I had finished the articles in this newspaper live from leh,
But no !
in fact, by the greatest chance, it was not expected, it turns out that we have
learned that the Dalai Lama was invited to one of the mosques in Leh.
like now, we know Leh like the back of our hand, we decided to go there!
arrived there, there was a huge crowd around the porch of the mosque.
there were Ladakhis, Tibetans, Indians, Kashmiris, and of course quite a few Westerners!
many burned incense in the street, wore flowers or Katas (small scarves
Tibetan silk earrings which are a kind of offering).
we could see a lot of emotion and fervor on their faces!
and finally, he left the mosque after almost 1h30 of presence
I even managed to photograph it quite closely! I#039;ll put this online when I get home!
So it was a very special day, a superb final punctuation to our stay
in Ladakh!
tomorrow departure by plane for Delhi where the atmosphere may be quite different!
