October 2 - Seti Gorge and Old Pokhara

Today a long walk towards the north of Pokhara towards the Seti gorges, a quite spectacular place where a small river has carved the rock for centuries.

A little anecdote about this place: we met a Nepalese there who lives in the USA. He wanted to tell us the history of these gorges by explaining that a young man named "GEORGE" had fallen there and that is why they were called "GORGES de seti"!

we see here what can be the result of a distortion of word of mouth and transmissions

Explanations: in fact this story of a young man falling has nothing to do with this place but concerns another place: the Devi waterfalls. I told you a few days ago: a young man ldquo;DAVIDrdquo; fell into the waterfalls and they gave them his name ldquo;DEVIrdquo;

the word GORGE therefore has nothing to do with GEORGES! funny, right?

then randomly during our walk, on the site of a temple that is both Hindu and Buddhist, a party takes place with lots of music, graduation ceremonies, dances. This is what makes traveling so charming: witnessing this kind of thing!
