August 1, 2009 - Leh: 1st excursion

after 3 days of almost complete rest to get used to the altitude
do nothing but drink, eat and sleep!
Today August 1st will be the 1st day we will take a little walk.
after a very good night and a very sunny morning, we leave the guesthouse
for breakfast.
Surprise: the town is almost deserted, all the shops are closed
However, it is almost 10 o#039;clock
we meet tourists, we ask them whatrsquo;s going on: a strike!
and here apparently, you have to follow them obligatorily!
Fortunately, we come across 2 young people coming out of a cafe with an apparently closed iron curtain!
they confirm to us that it is open but do not want it to be seen....
we will eat there in the morning and at midday!
after a little rest at the beginning of the afternoon
we leave on foot towards the village of changspo which adjoins leh to visit a stuppa called: shanti stupa

We come back in the evening of course on leh
some shops have reopened, we should easily find something to eat!
