August 3: ivalo village
The night was refreshing, what#039;s strange is that it#039;s still light at 1 a.m.! luckily the curtains are opaque! in the morning Nordic-style breakfast buffet: homemade bread, black bread, cold meats, yogurt, cheese, oatmeal, etc. we even make sandwiches for lunch! immediately after eating, walk towards the village of ivalo through the forest. very pleasant, we even come across a little reindeer on the path! the village of ivalo is quite modern and has no particular charm: wide streets, large 70s type buildings, wooden cafes and restaurants a bit in the American fashion! at the entrance to the village a monument represents a group of gold prospectors: the region was renowned for this in the 19th century and there are still some. while doing some shopping at the supermarket we come across outi who offers to take us back to the guesthouse! nice in the evening, great dinner: homemade puree, salmon (national plan!) sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, strawberries... then a short walk in the forest to digest, accompanied by an escort of....mosquitoes. There are really a lot of them here! fortunately lemongrass repels them!
