04 - around thimphou

Today is a busy day

Departure at 9:00 a.m. towards a 17th century monastery created by an important figure of Bhutan: the unifier. The one who has brought the country together until now is split between several governors. As is often the case, the great figures of the region mix political and religious aspects.

A short walk of an hour and a half to arrive where the monastery is built. Very pretty shaded walk with a small difference in altitude of 300 meters (we were therefore at almost 3000 meters above sea level)

When we arrive, a lama celebrates a ritual which also lasts during our meditation session.

Little moments suspended in time.

After lunch, we go to a nunnery (women#039;s monastery). A very peaceful place too

Ready, an old dzong which houses a school. For the record, a dzong is a ldquo;fortressrdquo; which houses the countryrsquo;s administrations (civil and religious)

After this small dzong, it is the main dzong of Thimphu where we go for the flag raising ceremony. A ritual that is always very codified.

Finally, to end this beautiful, busy day, we go to the temple of Kalou Rinpoche, a great master of Tibetan Buddhism, where we are welcomed by the family of Lama Gypurme after celebrating the Chenrezi ritual.
